Film Screenings

COMPASS FILMS

Compass Films is a short and feature film festival that aims to raise refugee awareness and promote inclusion through art.

Films and storytelling have a remarkable power to foster social cohesion and create more  empathy between individuals and communities. They offer the ability to transcend cultural boundaries, connect people on an emotional level, and shed light on the experiences and struggles of marginalized communities, including people with lived experiences of forced migration. In light of this, Refugee Week Greece takes an important step towards involving migrant communities and film. This way, Compass

COLLABORATION WITH THE FESTIVAL OF MIGRANT FILM SLOVENIA + TRIBUTE TO THE WORK OF ANNETA PAPATHANASIOU + INTRO WITH DIRECTOR-SCREENWRITER ANGELOS KOVOTSOS

9:30pm.

For the second Refugee Week Greece and the inauguration of Compass FILMS we collaborated with the team behind the Festival of Migrant Film in Ljubljana, Slovenia and Greek director Anneta Papathanasiou to bring together stories of people who have been forced to leave their homes. Expanding on this year’s Refugee Week theme of compassion, we selected two short films on the ground of optimism. This is made possible by the many individuals, including directors Damian Kocur (Poland) and Anneta Papathanasiou (Greece), and groups who are willing to engage themselves and work around the building of an open and inclusive society that transcends cultural and other differences.

We would like to thank Neaniko Plano, the Festival of Migrant Film in Ljubljana, Slovenia and the Krakow Film Foundation for their kind support.
