DESCRIPTION

What does home mean for people who live far from their own home and often their family? “Portrait Day” by Maria Leonidas, presents the Photography Workshop that was implemented in the refugee camp of Schistos, with participating refugees. They direct and photograph families living in the structure, redefining the practice of family portraiture, a process traditionally done at home by all family members. The film addresses issues of how I appropriate a space to make it my “home”, which faces enter the portraits and which are missing and finally what will be the journey of these photographs.

After the screening, there will be a discussion by the film’s director and director of Karpos, Maria Leonidas, about the production conditions of the film and about the meaning of home and family in the portrait and what photography.
